History
Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics has started to accept students in 2018-2019 Spring semester.
Qualification Awarded
Upon successful completion of the program and when the program qualifications are met, a PhD degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics is awarded.
Admission Requirements
Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics University, Faculty of Science, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics departments, Faculty of Agriculture Plant Protection, Agricultural Biotechnology departments, Engineering Faculties Bioengineering and Genetics Departments and Veterinary Faculty, Faculty of Medicine are required to graduate.
The ALES and YDS score requirements are determined based on the decisions of the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences.
Higher Grade Transition
Scientists with PhD degrees can participate in project-based postdoctoral research.
Graduation Requirements
Students who have successfully completed the credit courses, who have been successful in the proficiency exam and who have completed the thesis work by submitting the thesis proposal until the end of the maximum period can be graduated from the doctoral program.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates can work in public departments: in Research institutes, in R&D laboratories, in Genetic Diagnostic Centers, in Hospital laboratories, at Marine Sciences Research Institutes, at Turkish Standards Institute, at Ministry of Health, Ministry of Food, at Agriculture and Livestock, at the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK), at the Customs Control Centers, in the Experimental Animal Research Laboratories. Graduates can work in the private sector: at pharmaceutical, medical and biotechnology companies, at Genetic Diagnosis Centers and in food control laboratories.
Assessment and Grading
Doctoral program consists of a minimum of 21 credits for students admitted with a master's degree with thesis and a minimum of 240 ECTS credits including at least seven courses, seminars, proficiency exam, thesis proposal and thesis study, provided that the academic year is not less than 60 ECTS. It occurs. It consists of at least 300 ECTS credits including 14 courses with 42 credits, seminar, proficiency exam, thesis proposal and thesis study for students admitted with undergraduate degree.The purpose of the proficiency exam is to test whether the student has in-depth knowledge of basic and doctoral studies. In order to take the doctoral proficiency exam, he / she must have successfully completed the required number of courses and seminars and has achieved at least 3.00 GPA.Exams consist of midterm, final exam and make-up exams. In order to take the final exam; the student must have attended at least 70% of the theoretical courses and at least 80% of the laboratory and applications. Exams can be performed as written, oral, written-applied and oral-applied. At least one midterm exam is given for each course in the related semester. The contribution rates of the midterm and final exams to the success grade are determined by the IABC at the beginning of each semester in accordance with the recommendation of the faculty member or the faculty members whose qualifications are determined by the Senate and the opinion of EABDB / EASDB. In order to be successful in a course, the final grade must be at least CC for master's degree and at least CB for doctorate.
