History
Molecular Biology and Genetics Department Thesis Master's Program started in 2015-2016 Academic Year Spring Semester.
Qualification Awarded
When the program is successfully completed and the program qualifications are achieved, a Master's degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics is obtained.
Admission Requirements
The students who will apply to the Molecular Biology and Genetics Master Program, must be graduated from Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Department of Biology, Department of Chemistry, Department of Physics under Faculty of Science, Department of Agriculture Protection, Department of Agricultural Biotechnology under Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Bioengineering and Genetics under Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Faculty of Medicine. The decisions of the Institute of Science and Technology are valid for application conditions.
Higher Grade Transition
Candidates who successfully complete the Master's degree can enroll in doctoral education-learning programs provided that they have ALES and Foreign Language knowledge (TOEFL-IELTS-YDS, etc.).
Graduation Requirements
Graduate program students are required to have at least seven elective courses, Seminar and Thesis Study courses provided that they receive a total of 120 ECTS credits. Students who fulfill the related requirements are awarded a Master's Degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduated students can work in the relevant departments of universities as a lecturer or expert in order to carry out research and teaching activities; in public, research institutes, R & D laboratories, genetic diagnosis centers, hospital laboratories, space research laboratories, marine sciences research institutes, Turkish Standards Institute, Ministry of Health, Food, Agriculture and the Ministry of Livestock, Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK), the customs control centers, the experimental animal research laboratory. Graduates can work also in the private sector in pharmaceutical, medical and biotechnology companies, medical laboratories and food control laboratories.
Assessment and Grading
Students are required to participate in classes, practical applications and laboratory studies and their participation in these courses and practices is supervised by the responsible people. In addition to the examinations for laboratory applications for all compulsory courses and elective courses, there is one written midterm exam in each semester. Students must also take the final exam. Final exams are held at the appropriate places and hours announced by the department. For the examinations that the Faculty Board cannot reach for the reasons they see reasonable, students are taken to the make-up exams. Student assessment and evaluation methods are recommended for each course according to the results of mid-term exams, laboratory performance and reports and final exams. The final grade must be at least 70 points out of 100. The grade of the student's grade is 40% of the midterm grade and 60% of the final exam grade.
